Occasional Chairs: Shaker influenced Book-matched Cherry

With the influence of simple Shaker design, and beauty of 2 book-matched Cherry slabs of wood, I plan to create these occasional chairs. Not only do I plan to make this set of chairs unique and beautiful to look at, they will also be very comfortable.

Natural Lines

Fresh pile of gorgeous Wild Black Cherry and English Walnut with the natural edge of the tree still intact, which is called a "flitch".


7'x30" Wild Black Cherry Flitch set.


Flipping through the flitch sets to decide which book-matched sets will best suit the needs of the customer, though this primary applies to table tops. When using a flitch board for a piece of fine furniture, the wood dictates what the final outcome will be, as you cannot force a natural shape. My goal is to create simple clean lines that compliment natural shapes.
